New to breathwork? Here’s what you should know…

    • Wear comfortable clothing

    • Ensure you have privacy to be fully expressed with whatever surfaces during the session. A space with a door that closes and asking housemates not to disturb you are helpful.

    • Prepare any materials that will support your journey. This may include: headphones, a journal, pillows, blankets, eye mask, water

    • I recommend a light schedule for the remainder of your day after breathwork to allow for easeful integration. Ideally, give yourself at least 1-2 hours before diving back into electronics and the rush of work.

    • It’s best to avoid drinking alcohol or consuming mind altering substances 24 hours before and after a session.

  • Breathwork is similar to a long guided meditation but it can bring up sensations, emotions, and memories. The practice itself can last 60-90mins, but I recommend engaging with this when you have ample spaciousness to drop in and integrate.

The breathing pattern can cause interesting sensations including dizziness, tingling, feeling hot/cold, or stiff limbs. All of this is normal and temporary, but if anything feels painful - discontinue and breathe normally.

  • It’s common for emotions to come up during this practice. As much as you can, let it flow and trust that it’s moving through you to lighten the load. If it becomes too much, brings up something you’re not ready to feel, or is re-traumatizing, come back to your natural rhythm of breath, open your eyes, and discontinue the practice. • This practice is safe for all healthy individuals. If you are pregnant, keep your breath deep and slow and disregard my cues to quicken the pace to prioritize safety. If anything feels off, trust the wisdom of your body and discontinue the practice. If you have any chronic or acute health issues we advise you to speak to a healthcare professional before trying 3-part breath. We do not recommend this breath practice if you are suffer from epilepsy, high blood pressure treated with prescription medication, coronary heart disease, a history of severe health issues such as heart attack or stroke.

  • Journal / Reflect:

What did I learn about myself? How do I feel called to move forward? Is there something that wants to shift in my life as a result of this experience?

    Helpful Practices:

    • Spend time in nature

    • Stay well hydrated and drink lots of water

    • Eat a grounding plant protein-rich meal (beans, root veggies, whole grains, etc)

    • Take an epsom salt bath to cleanse (a hot shower works too!)

    • Tend to your altar to connect with ancestors and guides

    • Share about your experience with trusted loved ones

    • If big emotions or triggers linger, reach out to a trusted professional for additional support. You are welcome to email me or book a private session as well. blessings@bewellwithbrialle.com
